Getting Your Mac online with FDT (OS 8.0 and earlier)
Locate the Assistants folder on your hard drive, open it, then double-click on the Internet Setup Assistant icon.
- Introduction: click the Update button.
- Introduction:
- Internet Configuration: select Add Internet configuration.
- Configuration name and connection type: select fdt.net and select Modem.
- Modem Settings: select your modem, the port you want to connect to, then select Tone.
- Configuration Information:
Enter the dial-up number for your city.
User ID (login): (chosen when you signed up with fdt.net)
Password: (chosen when you signed up with fdt.net)
- IP Address: select No.
- Domain Name Servers:
Call (888) FDT-9903 for the best IP addresses to use in your area.
Leave the domain name blank.
- Email address: yourlogin@fdt.net
Email password: (the same as your dial-up password)
You can leave the 'greater than' symbol in the last box.
- Email account: (the portion of your email address to the left of the @ symbol)
Email (SMTP) host: mail.fdt.net or mail.tlh.fdt.net in Tallahassee.
- Newsgroup (NNTP) Host: news.fdt.net
- Conclusion: Click the Go Ahead button and your Mac will be ready for the internet!
