Using Netscape Communicator

Navigation with Netscape Communicator 4.x is a a little different than Netscape 3.0, but it's easy to manage if you remember the following things:

  1. How to type in a URL
  2. How to move back and forth from page to page
  3. How to add a site to your Bookmark list
  4. How to go back to a site via your Bookmark list
  5. How to use it to get to Mail and News

1. How to type in a URL

  1. Find the URL in the Address: field.
    find URL
  2. Highlight the URL with your mouse.
    highlight URL
  3. Replace it with the URL of the place you want to go.
  4. Hit Return, and you're on your way.

2. How to move back and forth from page to page

The Back button--
back
--allows you to go the page you had just visited.

The Forward button--
foward
--lets you move forward again, after you've clicked Back. Let's say you start at page 1. You click on the link to page 2. You realize that you weren't done with page 1, so you click on the Back button. After you're done with page 1, you can click the Forward button to continue reading page 2. Try it--you'll understand.

How to add a site to your Bookmarks:

  1. Go to the site you want to add.
  2. From the Bookmark menu, select "Add to Bookmarks."
    bookmarks
  3. That's it--you're done.

How to visit a site via your Bookmark list

That's simple--from the Bookmark list, select the website you want to visit.
