Florida Digital Turnpike: Uploading Your
Webpage
-
Uploading to a Personal Dial-up Account
If you authored your website with a text based editor
such as Notepad, Hotdog or Homesite, you'll have to
publish your site with an FTP program (file transfer
protocol) such as WS_FTP, Cute FTP or if you are a Mac
user, Fetch. All FTP programs are similar to set up. For
illustration purposes, we'll show you how to publish a
finished website on your hard drive to FDT's server using
Cute FTP.

Uploading to a Tallahassee Personal Dial-up
Account
If your personal website space is in Tallahassee, the
settings are slightly different. Tallahassee's webserver
is Linux based, so the directory structure is different
too. For illustration purposes, we'll show you how to
publish a finished website on your hard drive to FDT's
server using Cute FTP.
Recommended FTP Programs
Cute FTP
Works with Windows 95/98 and NT. Cute FTP’s user-friendly interface makes
it a hit with novices and pros alike.
WS_FTP LE
It‘s the most popular FTP program in the world. WS_FTP LE is free for personal use and does everything you’ll need.
Fetch 3.0.2
Mac users don’t download and upload files, like PC users. They get and put files with Fetch. The little doggie is cute too.
